A tummy tuck in Turkey costs considerably less than in the UK, Ireland or Germany — largely because hospital and staffing costs are lower, not because the standard of care is. What it does not cover is a plan that turns out to need more than that — if your surgeon recommends adding breast surgery, you are quoted for the combination rather than surprised on arrival. It is permanent, and it runs low across the lower abdomen from hip to hip — longer if there is more skin to remove. Your surgeon marks it with you standing up, before theatre, so you see where it will sit and can bring the underwear or swimwear you intend to wear. It is red and raised for the first months, then flattens and fades over a year or more. Anyone who tells you a tummy tuck leaves no scar is not describing this operation.

Not meaningfully, and that is not what the operation is for. A tummy tuck removes skin and repairs the muscle wall — the tissue removed weighs far less than most people expect, and the change you see is contour, not the scales. It is done after your weight has settled, not instead of losing it.

Wait if your weight is still moving, if you plan another pregnancy, or if you are within roughly six months of a large loss — skin keeps retracting during that time and operating early can mean a second operation. Wait as well if you smoke; wound healing across a long abdominal incision is where smoking causes real problems, and your surgeon will ask you to stop before and after. We would rather tell you to come later than take a booking now.

A mini only addresses skin below the navel and does not repair the muscle wall above it, so it suits a small amount of loose skin and nothing else. A full abdominoplasty treats the whole abdominal wall, repairs separated muscle, and repositions the navel. Most people who have carried a pregnancy or lost significant weight need the full operation, and your surgeon tells you which one at your assessment — including when the honest answer is that liposuction alone would serve you better.

During pregnancy or significant weight gain the two vertical abdominal muscles can separate — diastasis recti. Stitching them back together is what flattens a stomach that still sticks out after the skin is removed, and it is the part exercise cannot fix. Your surgeon checks for it at your examination; where it is present it is repaired in the same operation.

Usually, yes. Thin tubes drain fluid away from the wound for the first days and come out at the hospital once the output has dropped — a quick step, more strange than painful. They are one reason the stay in İstanbul is planned in nights rather than days.

The first days are the hardest — a tight, pulling feeling rather than a sharp pain, worse when you stand up or laugh. Muscle repair makes it more uncomfortable than skin removal alone. You walk from the first day, slightly bent forward, and straighten up over the following week. Pain relief is managed on the ward and continues at home.

Day and night for the first weeks, then during the day for several more — your surgeon gives you the dates in writing at discharge. It controls swelling and supports the repair, and skipping it early is the most common reason a result looks worse than it should at the six-week mark.

Desk work at around two to three weeks. Anything physical, lifting children included, waits four to six weeks, and core training waits longer than that — usually eight weeks or more where the muscle wall has been repaired. Your discharge notes give you the dates for your own plan rather than a general rule.

After your surgeon has reviewed you and confirmed you are fit for the flight — that check is part of the package, not an extra. Abdominal surgery raises the risk of clots, so you fly with compression, you get up and walk during the flight, and you follow the instructions you are given before you leave. This is why we plan the stay at seven nights — five for a mini tummy tuck, seven to eight for an extended or 360 procedure — and will not shorten it to fit a cheaper ticket.

In a full JCI-accredited hospital with sterile theatres, a consultant anaesthetist and intensive-care backup on site — not a day clinic. You are admitted for one to two nights after surgery and discharged by your own surgeon.

You leave with your garment, your scar-care plan, medication and written aftercare for the first month, and your coordinator stays in contact for 12 months. You send photos at agreed intervals, your team reviews them, and you can reach us on WhatsApp at any point. If a wound looks wrong to you, we would much rather see a photo of it early.
